BEAMS is giving its sports line a store of its own. BEAMS SPORTS opens its first concept store on Oct. 12, a public holiday in Japan, on the ground floor of Building A at Meiji Park in Shinjuku, next to the National Stadium.
BEAMS SPORTS started in 2021 as a web magazine about sport and the culture around it. It has since made uniforms and gear with the Ryukyu Golden Kings basketball team and the breaking crew KOSÉ 8ROCKS, FASHIONSNAP reports. The new shop is about 155 square meters, and the launch categories are running, trail running and basketball.
Among the brands, UK running label R.A.D RUNNING is making its Japan debut. There is also a Winiche & Co. collaboration with Japanese basketball brand AKTR, a rack of vintage sports graphic T-shirts mostly from the 1990s, and eight store-only originals, including T-shirts, sweatpants and socks. According to the BEAMS release, the fixtures are modeled on pro-team locker rooms, and a bakery cafe, Parklet Meiji Park, shares the space.
The store is open from 10:00 to 19:00. Through Oct. 14, BEAMS SPORTS is also running a basketball shooting challenge, HOOPVAN, at the Wellness Park Tokyo event in the same park.
